Capitulum = the head of the tick. |
Basis Capitulum = the base of the head onto which mouth parts are attached. |
Hypostome = The barbed mouth part that anchors the tick to its host. |
Palps = Paired sensory mouth parts. |
Scutum = Hard scale-like dorsal covering. |
Eye = Ocular lens associated with the surface of the scutum on some tick species. |
Coxa = Basal leg attachment structure. |
Spiracle = Opening to the tracheal (respiratory) system. |
Festoons = Block-like structures on the posterior margin of some ticks. |
Anal Groove = A ventral indention or furrow associated with the anus. |
